Well, I'm not a fan of either Trump or Clinton The both of them are nothings IMHO. So I did an online poll and said yea or nay to various policies, trying to imagine what it must be like to live in a political system even more broken than ours in the UK. The answer was that apparently I'm a confirmed Trumper!! WTF! :o

Apparently, if you don't want to take peoples gun rights away, that makes you a Trumper!

Last time I do an online survey...

Now, I must go and re-educate myself. :(

I sort of consider our election results not too different than what you folks in the UK have/are going through.
The public, yours and ours are tired and outraged at our respective folks in power trying to be the worlds best buddy......on the public's dime (or Pound).

Trump won because we (yep I voted for him) are tired of putting lawyers (you know, those bloodsuckers we all despise....never made an honest living) in positions of power.
Time to run a country as a business.....quit writing rubber checks, take care of the citizens by creating jobs and reducing the free bees (entitlement).
The gun thing is a cute place to put yourself on a podium for (appeals to the snivelers) but the realities are it isn't going to change.
The general consensus is 'A Armed Society is a Polite Society'. Tends to keep a government from becoming totalitarian.

That aside, we have a medical care system that is IMO, out of control from a financial standpoint. The Affordable Care Act ( known as Obama Care, actually Ted Kennedy's program) is turning out, as the pundits predicted, to be unaffordable to those it was supposed to help.
There are a few elements of it that may be salvageable, but it needs a serious overhaul......and quickly.

And then there is NAFTA......the countries that can be (and were) self sufficient by producing their own goods are, because of the program, all becoming consumer nations as opposed to producer nations.
Until there is a Tariff balance, NAFTA cannot work.

NAFTA and health care are the two primary items in Trumps gunsights (get the irony? Gunsight?)
Next is illegal immigration......something you folks should (I Hope) be giving serious thought to as well.
Our system is designed around a legal method of immigration that is designed to welcome those who wish to embrace this country, but is currently being poorly enforced.
The public is being asked (and forced) to pay for those folks entering the country.

Just like things on your side of the pond, we too have lots of things that have to be addressed.

Had Hillary (known as Hitlary over here) been elected we would once again have someone who has never actually had a job, always been on the public dime, with a law degree and a trainload of failures in her past, leading us into the same old, same old.

Should be a wild four (or eight) years and If things start looking up I hope you folks get some of the benefit as well......otherwise, we go down in flames together.

Glad to see you voted for him. I sat up all night watching the votes come in expecting the projected landslide for trump but expecting Clinton's criminal cabal attempt to steal it. The result was in a word glorious.

The brexit comparison is spot on. People are sick and tired of corrupt, greedy and self serving career politicians (and their media cronies poor attempts to brainwash the population) pushing them more and more towards an uncertain future, not just for them but also their kids. Wages going down, mass migration going up etc, etc and all the while these scumbags continue to prosper while telling the people its all good.

Clinton is a criminal and it needs to be put front and centre that she and her family have gotten rich at the expense of 10's of thousands of people in places like Haiti and across the middle east. There's also the whole Benghazi disgrace and the question of how she got James Comey to basically pardon her of any wrong doing.

The Clinton supporters are now rioting in the streets, crying their widdle eyes out screaming about how unfair it is that they didn't get what they wanted. I find it funny how these "liberals" with their calls for peace, love and tolerance are now showing their true colours as the most unpeaceful and intolerant whiny, spoiled little brats that they really are. Of course the irony will be completely lost on them. They don't seem particularly bright if you ask me.

Well stated.

Going a bit further, very few of the whiners that were interviewed actually bothered to put their 'I' phone down and vote.

As far as Hitlary.....the Jane Fonda of the 'Now Generation', I hope the entire Clinton ponzi games do come out into the light but they have done a stellar job of covering their tracks.
With any luck, that whole thing will tumble down around them with little help so we can get on with trying to clean up the messes left behind with minimal time and expense.

I'm looking forward to January 20th.

Yeah ex forces myself worked alongside the americans quite a few times. Never understood American politics until now.
Worked with all types of Americans, sister in Law moved their with a US sailor has an american family their. But all the TV programs for me growing up were of middle class america, high school, nice cute families with high morals. I met guys from all over, heard about their problems with health care, pregnancy, affording to be ill.
I saw normal America, mainly nice people in low grade housing.I worked with good guys struggling like the uk to make a life, but working hard to get it.
A lot of the American Officers were like ours in the uk, privileged, well educated and politically savvy. I can see like England the underclass have had enough, like here with the MP expenses scandals and duck ponds. Our MPs fiddling is a drop in the ocean to the rigged system in the US. An educated american friend tried to explain their political system simply to me wow!
Top US colleges mean life long employment for the privileged, doesn't matter if their crap at what they do. They grow politicians, companies own politicians, you can hire politicians with little or no regulation, the US system shocked me as an outsider. It maintains an elite class of americans that we could never afford in the uk, churning out politicians to keep them rich.
Trump is a self made man, I bet the old guard are bricking it! He was made unwelcome at all levels on his way up, bit like Farage!

Really, the choice for Americans was that they had no choice. They were forced into this decision, a bit like us with Brexit. People may whine that this is not what they voted for, but it is in the sense that we all made a political statement for change. The next elections will be more exciting to see how we the people with be appeased, especially now the government's know we're not afraid to make tough choices.

Of course, we have to survive the next few years first. (I suspect it won't really make much difference to the man on the street).

Trumps a dickhead. He can't even make a casino profitable so how's he gonna do with a whole country? My idiot countrymen voted him in! Everything he said up to getting elected were half truths or out n out lies and made running for prez look like a Maury show. If those people think he's gonna fix the US they are completely diluted. He should have been in JAIL for his Trump University BS and he aligned himself with high ranking Klan members. Clinton was no better but the better pick and no I didn't vote for either of them. Bernie was the man but his problem was he is way to progressive than the US can take ATM. Trumps wall BS was stupid as f##k and would waste more resources to an already under funded part of the government. There's only so much in the pot and where do you think he would take the funds from? Not the rich. You can thank Republicans for getting in this mess the first place...

So its true what they say about that part of the world then? The whole state sounds like an insufferable sh1thole.

I imagine play doh, colouring books, hot chocolate and handkerchiefs have been flying off the shelves there the past few days lol.

Heres to the next 8 years, chin chin.
