will not start

Postby Spudvilla » Thu Jul 06, 2017 2:49 pm

Hello,

Hopefully somebody can help me! i have an lml auto 125.

The electric start does not work and just makes a buzzing sound like the electrics are trying to start it but then clunks to a stop after a couple of seconds. The electric start then stops working completely. When trying to kick start it it will not even attempt to start but sometimes makes the tiniest of engine noise for a split second. I have been having problems kickstarting it for a while now but usually I can get it going either by pure luck or by somebody twisting the throttle at the same time as i Kickstart it. However, now it seems to have given up.

This might not be the issue but I took the side panel off and there is a see through pipe hanging down that seems like it should be connected to something.
I am not a mechanical person so it is possibly meant to be there but its worth asking. The pictures i have attached so that you can see what pipe I mean.

Some suggestions would be helpful thank you. :)

Hi Spud,
I`m not sure I can help as I have a 4 stroke LML, but as no one else has put their heads over the parapet.......... :o
The pipe looks like it should be there - I just had a look through a couple of you tube pics & there is an auto shown there with a pipe in just the same place, so I guess it should be there!
Your starting problem could be all sorts, but I take it that you have checked to make sure the spark plug is clean & there is petrol getting through. It almost sounds as though your battery is flat, have you checked that to make sure the level of acid is ok, if not top up with distilled water & charge it if you can - scoot batteries don`t have a lot of guts in them if you keep hammering the starter button. When you are starting with the kick start, you probably don`t need to open the throttle until it fires - you will get more petrol through with the throttle closed & the slide down in the carb, or you will suck a weak mixture through.
Maybe someone else will tell me I`m talking rubbish, but at least I`m talking!!
Just looked at "mortadelos" post half a dozen down from yours - it might be worth a read.
