LML Supremo a cosa or really a PX ?

Postby Tassoman » Sat Dec 14, 2013 10:40 pm

Back in the 90's when LML needed a new model and following piaggio lead they released the SUPREMO. The COSA was a completely new design, new frame, wide mount engine, wide wheels, hydraulic linked brakes, auto choke, auto fuel tap, central plug and not forgetting its infamous clutch it was so technologically advanced. Piaggio thought that everyone would embrace the new COSA, so much so they dropped the VESPA badge ! If you have ever owned or riden a cosa you will know how comfortable they are to ride, if they had only got the styling right. But unlike piaggio LML didnt fabricate a hole new press and production they simply covered their existing PX frame with 'cosa' style body parts. Heres a stunning example of a SUPREMO and below is the side panel removed. You can see the cosa back end spot welded onto a PX frame as piaggio had done with the T5. The supremo may have had the cosa looks but didnt have the best parts of the cosa, it had just drum brakes, manual choke and fuel tap and of course a standard LML(PX) type 150cc engine. If LML had only managed to do it the other way around and put the technology into a PX frame they would have had one amazing scooter. Still COSA or SUPREMO its an acquired taste. :ugeek:

Looking at the engine they have used a sensible place to put the coil aswell.

If only LML would pay attention to what worked and what didn't.

Its a very "Back to the Future" looking scoot this. It will have its own following guaranteed.

There's a couple guys in our local club with Cosas, they love them and the scoots never miss a beat!

It would look smart if it had a T5 mk1 head set on it and 200cc 5 port engine.
I think they would sell big time

Would it be a 3 or 5 port motor in it?

3 port 150cc. Supremos were not reed valve, but did have the sports CDI and HT Coil.
