Fake spare wheel cover

Postby ck01 » Tue Jun 20, 2017 11:26 pm

Hi all,

Having ridden Vespa's for the last 15 years or so I picked up my first LML yesterday, a 125 automatic and first impressions are great as it looks and sounds fantastic!
My only concern is for some reason mine didn't come with the "fake spare wheel cover". Now although I don't mind as it makes the scoot look a little more symmetrical I did notice a lot of wires and electrics down there that seem to be open to the elements.
Now is this just the norm and nothing to worry about or does the spare wheel cover meant to protect them so I should speak to the dealer?

Any thoughts would be great

thank you

You can buy various half moon covers including plastic, chrome and stainless, or maybe even a cloth complete spare wheel cover. Cheers

Yes, the purpose of the cover is to shield/protect the electrics.

Since it is assumed no manufacturer in their right mind puts something on a machine that isn't absolutely necessary I recommend replacement.

Ideally you need the original one. If it's not available for some reason, you could probably cobble together something using a 2T / Vespa PX cover and a couple of Meccano strips. You'd need to cut it too, so easier to get a plastic one rather than metal.
