If you have not got access to a welder, and it's just 8mm holes i would use fine fibre glass and filler. Never had a problem with such a small regular hole. small dents are pulled and filled professionally. Welding is best, filling is normal as well. Rob.

Thanks for the comments and I don't have use of a welder and seems expensive to buy for 2 small holes would you be able to point me in the right direction for the thinnest fibre glass please as you said would be best thanks again

If it's small holes Isopon p40 is a mix of fibreglass and filler, sand with fine glass paper 1200 around the hole about 2 cm. Back to metal at the edges. Put a smear across hole, use masking tape at back if necessary. Let it go fully hard, sand back, use some fine stopper filler over the top sand back til almost transparent. Use a decent undercoat and it should be fine. Get a piece of metal, drill a hole and practise first if your worried.

Just another idea if you are doing a rustoration perhaps, is to use a couple of the bolt through "star trim" thingies, if you can find some & use dome nuts on them.
