I am still uprating for a fitted sidecar, decided to fit a 3 click adjustable carbone front shock. Removed the shock by jack under body.Wheel off. two bolts on damper removed. two upper mount bolts holding nuts removed. A quick wiggle and it was out. I was shocked at how poor the original escort shock was, I could push it down easily!

The new shock was solid, bigger and I couldn't compress it. Fitting it was a bas***d, until I had a cup of tea and thunk it out! The lml captive nut in the suspension mount is wounderful design to a problem on the vespa, but due to the longer designed bolt and stiffer shock I could not get clearance to fit it to the top mount. My solution was loosen the mudguard bolts, remove the disc brake unit and I could swing the shock 180. Loosening the mudguard bolts helps access to the suspension mount bolts you can push the bolts up swing up the arm, jam a piece of wood under the suspension arm push the bolts through. Jobs a good one.
