Speedo cable = GTS?

Postby gottmoose » Fri Jan 31, 2014 12:11 am

Hello!

I ordered a new speedo cable from my dealer today since my one broke yesterday and it was really expensive!
When I looked at the order the item description said:
"Vespa GTS speedometer cable LML part nr...."

Could that be the case that the LML star speedo cable is the same as the GTS one?
If that's the case this opens up for some aftermarket cabels and better avalability at least here in Sweden where I live.

What do you guys think? Is it possible that they are the same?

Dunno about the GTS but it's about an inch longer than a genuine Vespa PX one, simple remedey is to swap the whole cable (outer and inner) for a PX one then you have a huge choice of suppliers.

Geezer, does this not play havoc when trying to split the headset?
I've already stretched the original outer when taking the top off to sort the indicators as there is little play?
Do you disconnect the cable at the wheel drive end to make it easier?

It's fine on mine... when I want to remove the head set I obviously remove the screws holding it, pull it up slightly just to loosen it then push the slack from the speedo cable at the fork end up into the fork as much as possible. This gives me more than plenty to play with.
