The 'This LML sports reed valve' badge thingy was but on the early reed valve engines as far as I know.

When i bought it i got it cheap as the bloke that owned it had wrecked the engine trying to upgrade it ,he then bought all different parts to put it back together ,i dont have a clue whats going on with it it has no number :? but for £800 it seemed fair price he wanted £1400 i knocked price down ! My plan was to put a 200cc in it but it runs ok . Maybe you've seen my post about cylinder its vespa markings the plot thickens and i'm soon gonna be thrown oot forum for not havin lml

Hahahah don't worry about that any scooters are welcome here Ginge is living proof of that.

The fact that it had a piaggio head and that it's got a Vespa cdi/coil combo makes me think it's a Vespa engine with a lml flywheel cover !

Does it have a reed valve ?

It runs ok and that's all that matters !

If you take the carb box lid and air filter off and then hold the throttle open you should be able to look down into the carb and see the reeds. I would take a picture to show you but my scooter is currently in bits !

If it is a Vespa it would be interesting to see if Vivo matched the ports to the bigger ports on the LML top end.

Definitely something a bit odd going on there, have you done a HPI check on the number plate, and chassis number, also does the engine number tie up with the, chassis number...and the number plate.. what year is it, and does it have a m.o.t.

Remember if you have a bump on it, and insurance finds something a miss with the chassis / engine number they wont pay out... what does the log book state LML or vespa ?

worth investigating this one...

sorry to be the bearer of bad news....

The carb box lid doesnt look like lml as they have the catalyst pipe bracket on, also the carb box lid has an extra hole... dunno why... the coil would suggest a vespa engine. take a look at the gear selector casing this should have LML stamped on it..if its LML. not to say that this could have been changed, also does the frame number in black on the frame tally up with the paiggio plate stamped on the chassis too... seems like you have a vespa.... also other giveaways are the rear light, lml is different, and the speedo. what does that say LML or vespa. under the seat too is different on a vespa as the fuel sender is a different arrangement... theres prob loads of other things too...

engine number would be on the pivot that the engine mount pivots on if that makes sense... it will be easy to see from where the exhaust exits under the frame, you may have to clean some hoil off the engine though by the looks..

it could be that its a LML engine, with a Piaggio Stator plate, and coil ignitinon setup. with the old style reed valve motor... that would be logical... given the vespa frame...the cowl for the head looks vespa too as they is normally black LML's i believe are grey as is mine..

maybe someone with a reed valve motor could post up some piccy doodles...
