For those interested I have just upgraded a large port Pinasco 177, the one with a single smaller exhaust port, mild tuned alloy kit. (a sort of down tuned magny cours kit)I matched the engine cases added a BGM 60mm crank and retained the 22mm Pinasco si R carb with the sip road exhaust. I took photos of the case and gasket shaping on the kit,, in case I want to repeat in the future . The fitted kit with standard crank always ran rich even on a 105 main jet. The cylinder fitted from the box with 20mm of cylinder port covered by the case port edge as the kit porting was more forward on the sides of the large port LML. It always had a little flat spot, it revved quite freely but i dont think much past 8000 rpm. Lovely ride steady 60mph all day, all weathers.
Just started it with long stroke, matched ported, 2.4 squish on the head, 1.5 mm base packing, 120 main jet on the same pilot etc and it fired up and started ticking over!!!!!!! I let it warm up and then started to rev, so smooth sounding, easily over 8000 rpm by the sound. ,Reminded me of my p200 engine that smooth hairdryer sound. Obviously the revs are smooth due to the longer stroke and not as rapid as the 177 in their sound. Horses for courses as I am pulling a sidecar revs are not that important.
I think if I had added a 57mm race crank, and case matched the 177 kit already fitted, it would have been a very revvy kit and much improved for speed etc. The same mild tuned 177 kit with the 60mm bgm race tour crank is a worthwhile touring upgrade, as close sounding to my P2 as possible, I hope the performance will match the expectations.

As requested, road test pinasco 187 with sidecar, with and without a passenger on 21t gearing. Without a passenger it was as fast as a standard LML, but with a powerband kicking in at half throttle. Took it to 55 mph without a stress but jetting a bit rich and spluttery at low revs. Didnt push it further due to jetting. With a passenger it was hardly different, but smoother on the road the weight in the sidecar made it more stable. Without a sidecar i reckon 9000 revs easy available, matched to a pipe easy 70 plus all day! I will fine tune then update, I think it is a bit revvy as a base packed long stroke, but their is plenty of grunt so it should work well. Would be a awesome touring machine with a mix of touring speedand the powerband.
